  • Ecstasy users take the drug at all-night parties, raves etc. which is why it is commonly known as a club drug.
  • Heroin users who become tolerant to the drug often cease experiencing most of the feelings of reward and pleasure they first felt and yet have to continue use just to feel normal and avoid withdrawal.
  • Hashish users commonly have daily cough and phlegm, symptoms of chronic bronchitis, and more frequent chest colds.

Co-Occurring Mental with Substance Abuse Issues

Persons with co-occurring mental and substance abuse disorders must handle both issues in order to recover completely. Some people take drugs or alcohol to alleviate symptoms of mental health complications, and some individuals take drugs which then, in turn, causes symptoms which are identical to mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety. Drug rehabilitation professionals know how to distinguish between the two, and can work with clients to correctly treat real mental health conditions in tandem with any other substance abuse treatment that is done with the person. This has proven to be effective in keeping people with mental health issues off of drugs and alcohol and mentally stable and happy.
