  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • Drinkers between the ages of 18 and 24 have the highest rates of co-occurring alcohol and other drug use disorders.
  • Researchers have reported that in order for a person to consume enough marijuana to experience a fatal overdose, they would have to consume almost 40,000 times the amount of THC (the active ingredient in marijuana) required to intoxicate them. For example, if it took an individual 10 hits to become intoxicated, it would take 400,000 hits of marijuana to produce a fatal overdose.
  • Infections as a result of needle sharing are an unfortunate reality among amphetamine users who inject the drug.
  • Circumstances which have been associated with alcohol abuse and frequent alcohol consumption include impulsivity, risk-taking, and sensation-seeking, or the tendency to seek out new and exciting experiences.
  • The substances that are most commonly detected in drug overdose post-mortem examinations are opiates, but they are very seldom the only substance that is found.

Dui/Dwi Offender Programs

DUI/DWI offenders are often required to enroll in a certain number of hours either in counseling, meetings or a drug or alcohol rehabilitation program. Each state has its own requirements when it comes to sentencing for the DUI/DWI offender. Offenders who are deemed low to moderate DUI/DWI offenders will typically engage in some form of group counseling or therapy. These are sometimes referred to as "Level I & Level II Alcohol Classes". These group meetings are usually held by a professional in the field of addiction recovery or a person with long-term sobriety involved in the Alcoholics or Narcotics Anonymous groups. DUI/DWI offenders deemed to be serious offenders will likely have to serve jail time at a minimum before beginning their mandatory counseling or alcohol rehabilitation program.
